Professional, Polite and Minimal Disruption from Start to Finish
Delivering essential sewer repair works in residential environments requires more than just technical expertise; it demands clear communication, careful planning, and a strong respect for the customer’s property.
This was reflected in the feedback we received following a recent project delivered on behalf of South West Water:
“Hi, would just like to praise your crew, who were dispatched via South West Water to fix a collapsed sewer pipe in my rear garden. From the first contact with your surveyor to the end of the job, your crew were polite, respected my property, and completed the job, doing everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum. Please pass on my regards — many thanks.”
Feedback like this reinforces our commitment to delivering a high standard of service on every project, not just in the quality of the work itself, but in how it is carried out.
A Planned and Customer-Focused Approach
From the outset, this project was approached with a focus on collaboration and communication. Prior to works commencing, our team met with the homeowner to explain the scope of works, confirm access arrangements, and ensure they were fully informed about each stage of the process.
Establishing this early understanding helps minimise uncertainty and ensures works can proceed efficiently once on site.
Delivering Civil Works Within a Restricted Residential Space
The repair works were carried out within a tight rear garden, requiring careful coordination and a methodical approach. Our civils team, supported by trusted subcontractor Lockleys, worked collaboratively to complete the repair safely and efficiently.
The scope of works included:
- Removal of the existing concrete surface and responsible disposal of material from site
- Hand excavation to expose the damaged sewer main, ranging between 1 and 2 metres in depth
- Installation of temporary works to maintain a safe working environment
- Repair of the damaged pipework and patching of the existing manhole structure
- Backfilling of the excavation following completion of repairs
- Removal of all excavated material via wheelbarrow due to restricted access
- Thorough cleaning of the area, including power washing
- On-site mixing and reinstatement of the concrete surface
- Final site clearance, leaving the area clean, safe, and fully restored
Working within a confined space required care and attention throughout, but by maintaining a well-organised site and clear workflow, the team ensured the works progressed smoothly.
Minimising Disruption Through Communication and Care
A key priority throughout the project was minimising disruption to the homeowner. Regular updates were provided at each stage of the works, ensuring the customer remained informed and confident in the process.
Respect for the property, combined with a proactive approach to cleanliness and reinstatement, ensured that the impact of the works was kept to an absolute minimum.
Delivering the Right Outcome
This project demonstrates how effective planning, strong teamwork, and a customer-focused approach combine to deliver successful outcomes in residential environments.
By working collaboratively with our supply chain partners and maintaining clear communication with the customer throughout, we completed the repair efficiently while delivering a positive experience from start to finish.
