Glanville Environmental Celebrate Collaborative Success & Recognition at UKSTT & Green Apple Awards For Infrastructure Projects
Glanville Environmental has demonstrated its excellence by securing two prestigious awards for our contributions to the civil engineering and drainage field showcasing our commitment to innovation, and sustainability in wastewater enhancement projects alongside client South West Water.
At the UKSTT Awards, held on November 29th, we were proud to attend as finalists in multiple categories. The Glanville Geospatial division stood out as a finalists in the Detection, Location, and Inspection category for their pioneering Confined Space Drone Inspection in Salcombe. This innovative project showcased a safer and more cost-effective solution, eliminating the need for human entry into a vital sewer link without any previous survey records since installation.
Additionally, our large civils team secured a finalist position for their work on the Large Renovation project in Porthleven. Collaborating with supply chain partner Public Sewer Services, their use of trenchless technology and the sustainable approach of relining with Primus Line highlighted our commitment to environmentally conscious infrastructure solutions.
We're pleased to announce that the Civils division triumphed at the UKSTT Awards, winning the Small Renovation Project of the Year for the Crowndale Road Lining Scheme. Simultaneously, we have been recognised with the Green Apple Organisation's Silver Award in the Utilities sector for Environmental Improvement with the Pennance Mill Rising Main Scheme.
Our success at the UKSTT Awards, where we clinched the Small Renovation Award for the Crowndale Road Lining Scheme, showcases our innovative approach to addressing critical sewage infrastructure issues. The Civils team embarked on a task to reinforce a 1km stretch of sewer pipe, combatting groundwater infiltration that had been straining the Crowndale Treatment Works. Employing the innovative Sewertronics Speedylight UV system by RSM Lining Supplies, the team swiftly completed the rehabilitation, ensuring minimal disruption to the community and enabling uninterrupted traffic flow and services.
Similarly, the Pennance Mill Rising Main Scheme emerged victorious, earning the Green Apple Silver Award for Environmental Improvement. This project tackled the challenges posed by a failing rising main installed in 1970, which had triggered several pollution events, adversely affecting stakeholders and the environment. Glanville Environmental's solution involved a thorough review of rehabilitation techniques, resulting in a hybrid approach that combined trenchless technology and traditional open-cut methods. This innovative strategy not only met stringent time constraints but also significantly minimised environmental impact.
The Green Apple Award, presented at The Houses of Parliament in London on November 20th, stands as a testament to our dedication to environmental improvement. This recognition alongside client South West Water signifies a shared commitment to tackling complex environmental challenges while upholding the highest standards of sustainable infrastructure development.
Both projects exemplify Glanville Environmental's dedication to employing cutting-edge technology while ensuring responsible and sustainable construction practices. The Crowndale Road Lining Scheme specifically showcased our pioneering use of the Sewertronics Speedylight UV system, achieving a remarkably swift completion within six weeks, three weeks ahead of the original schedule. This trenchless method significantly reduced disruption to the local environment and community, setting new benchmarks in infrastructure development.
Expressing our pride in these accomplishments, we emphasise the significance of these awards in recognising collaborative success with South West Water. Speaking on these triumphs, Contracts Director, James Goodman says:
"Glanville Environmental is committed to innovation and sustainable practices, and the importance of these awards recognises our team's dedication to delivering exceptional results while minimising environmental impact and disruption to local communities. Collaborating alongside supply chain partners and suppliers such as Public Sewer Services and RSM Lining Supplies enables our teams to consistently deliver wastewater enhancement projects for client South West Water throughout the region, ensuring safety, innovation, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness remain at the core of our operations."
These recognitions received by Glanville Environmental underscore our position as industry leaders in the South West region and showcase our relentless pursuit of excellence in infrastructure development. These awards not only validate innovative approaches but also set a standard for responsible and sustainable construction practices with projects that exceed client expectations.
