Glanville's Workshop Foreman, Mark Fitzsimmons (Fitzy), has been working within the transport team maintaining Glanville’s evergrowing fleet of vehicles since February 2010.
Back in 2010, David discovered a challenge for himself when attempting to recruit Fitzy, with some convincing required to entice him to come on board, and ever since, their (love-hate) relationship has grown stronger.
Fitzy has remained ever loyal to Glanville and David for over a decade, and to pay homage to his commitment to the company and their friendship, David had a surprise in store for him.
Over the years, Fitzy has fixed and restored David’s tractor, often getting called out to the farm at short notice for emergency repairs! And as much as Fitzy enjoys vehicle maintenance on a day-to-day basis with his role at Glanville, anyone that knows him, knows how much he wants to own and restore an old Land Rover as a project when he retires, following on from the previous four he’s owned over the years.
After searching for a while, he eventually found one abandoned in Somerset and was determined to get his hands on it... however, without his knowledge Richard bought the vehicle and spoke to David who arranged for it to be collected and brought to our Plympton depot, handing Fitzy the keys to the Land Rover for him to restore in his spare time and enjoy when he retires.
We can’t wait to see the Land Rover when it’s complete, but for now, happy restoring Fitzy!
