On Sunday 25th September, Planned Civils Project Agent, Donna Bennett, took part in the Banger Rally Challenge ‘Porto or Bust’ starting on Sunday 25th September to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at Trelisk and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services at Sowenna Unit in Bodmin.
The idea of the challenge was to make it from St Austell to Porto without the car going bust, all while taking part in daily challenges to be in with the chance of winning a portion of the £3500 prize money.
Having purchased a Ford C-Max under the value of £500, Donna and her team of eager ladies dressed as characters from ‘Call the Midwife’ with their mission from Charlestown Harbour to Porto beginning at 10am on Sunday 25th September.
The ladies drove for 10 hours each day taking part in various challenges at each of the places they were visiting such as riding a mountain cable car in Switzerland and finding the largest sand dunes in Europe during their drive through Spain, all while having fun and enjoying daily carpool karaoke.
Congratulations to Donna who raised £1800 with her team of ladies and came 3rd out of 58 cars taking part!
