Yelverton Golf Course

Water Management, flood Solution.

The problem: The bunker near the 18^th Hole at Yelverton Golf course was continuously flooded.  This created an ‘out of play”, situation should a player pitch their golf ball into the bunker and this in turn became a major headache for the Course Manager and club members.

The solution: Glanville Environmental was contacted to find a long term solution to the problem, and the company recommended enlarging the bunker, and constructing a ‘soakaway’ using an ‘Aquacell basket’ system. This would allow the water to be drained into an underground reservoir keeping the bunker dry at all times, even after heavy rain. This process allows the water to soak away slowly and evenly through the baskets and then into the ground.

The result:  This practical solution has resulted in 100% match playability and the management and members are very pleased with the result.  Glanville Environmental have undertaken several drainage projects at Yelverton Golf club over the past two years, enabling them to keep the course playable (and to maintain valuable income) for longer periods throughout the year.
