The problem
Pitch fibre pipes were used to construct the drainage systems of several properties in Yarnbarton. Many of the pitch fibre pipes running from the properties into the public sewer systems had become deformed and blistered over time. This was causing repeated blockages resulting in the properties becoming at risk of flooding with raw sewage. Glanville Environmental were called to reshape and reline the deformed pitch fibre pipes.
The solution
Glanville Environmental were asked to reshape and reline approx 80m of 6” pipes through five gardens . This involved digging reception pits in each garden to support reconnections to every property. The pipes were reformed using our 'no dig' technology to restore the pipework to its original size and shape, and where necessary a new pipe lining was installed to reinforce the newly reformed lines. In addition to this service we had to relay approx 18m of new 150mm pipe under gardens and through a driveway. All grounds were reinstated to the original condition after completion.
The result
The result was new and reinforced piping, which restored the pipes to full capacity allowing the sewage to run freely away from the properties, and all of the gardens and paths were restored to a high standard.
It appears that a number of residents, including Mr. Armes, were very impressed by the workmanship and the customer care provided by Glanville Environmental who undertook the work through the gardens. Mr. Armes contacted South West Water to say that "Glanville Environmental deserve 'a pat on the back' for the work they have carried out and now you would never know that they had been there".
Geoff Lawrence, Estates Manager, South West Water stated:
"I am copying this to my colleagues, as praise for workmanship is a relatively infrequent occurrence these days, and so all the more welcome. Thanks to you and your team for all your efforts, which has obviously paid off.”
